Rachael Ray: Bacon Bit and Gouda Burgers

December 31st, 2009

This one missed the schedule…sorry….

For this Rachael Ray burger recipe, since it will be my last burger of the year, I splurged and bought Gouda. I need to go to some school where I can learn to properly cut fancy cheese. I know I butchered these slices, and since I made 8 burgers, 4 of them got Swiss cheese instead. I guess it was the thought that counted. It is interesting to me that each cheese has distinctive flavors. To be honest, most of the time I like cheddar, sharp cheddar over anything else. Yellow cheese it’s the way to go! I will say for my last burger of the year this one was an excellent choice. I am glad I made it!

Family says: “These burgers are really good.” (Since we moved in with my parents temporarily everyone gets to eat!)

Notes: Well, I had to substitute just hamburger buns, you should’ve seen the grocery store. I guess no one is getting their trucks due to the snow here, so it is so bare. People just weren’t ready for what hit us! I thought the sauteed onions on this were great, I loved the steak sauce with them. I did not make the spinach salad with this, no one would eat it!

Rachael Ray: Stuffed Strawberries

December 31st, 2009

This Rachael Ray recipe was so intriguing because we love chocolate covered strawberries. I was very interested in stuffing the strawberries with chocolate and on top of that roasting them. This is a great lighter dessert, but my mom, the husband, and I all really enjoyed it!

Notes: The strawberries this time of year aren’t very big, I ended up using chocolate chips, but I got 3 chips in 1 strawberry so that was good. I also thought it would be cute to put 3 strawberries in their own baking dish, the problem with this is the dish stays hot, so the whip cream melts away. It was still good without the whipped cream! I didn’t dust these with cocoa powder, just because I don’t really have a good tool for that. If I did it with a spoon, there would be too much.

Welcome
