Rachael Ray: Easy Brisket

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I love a good brisket and this Rachael Ray recipe was intriguing. Plus after all that turkey you’ve been eating you may want a change. I found the sauce for this Brisket different, almost more Italian then a Barbecue Brisket. Maybe the fact that I’m from Oklahoma has influenced how I think of brisket. This would be great to cook in a slow cooker, you’re house will smell amazing!

Cookbook: Big Orange Book

Total Time: 2.5-3 hours

Notes: I didn’t cook this with the vegetables, I couldn’t do that, I felt like it was more of a roast that way. I don’t think my meat was all that great to begin with, I had to cook it longer to get it fork tender.

Rachael Ray: Weeknight Two Sauce Lasagna Bowls

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

This Rachael Ray recipe is good stuff. The little one loved it, especially the white sauce. I liked to mix my sauces together after I put half and half one. It’s almost like a Alfredo/marinara sauce combo. It does taste similar to lasagna without the ricotta cheese; which is fine by me. This one cooks up in no time, and is full of flavor.

Total Time: 25 minutes

Notes: Apparently I forgot tomato paste, but I had some tomato sauce so I just used that. I also didn’t use any red wine, didn’t want to buy any. Or really I was just too lazy to go out and get it when I realized I needed it. I know a lot of grocery stores around the country sell wine in them, not in Oklahoma. So making a trip to the liquor store didn’t happen this week.

Welcome
I like to cook and post about it in this blog. In 2009, I cooked a Rachael Ray recipe everyday for my family. You can check out the featured receipe from 2009. Here's hoping this blog makes your lives a little less work and more enjoyable!
